Clinical Pharmacy is the study and practise of rational use of medicine. It is the health science that provides patient care that monitors the patient medication treatment and improves health that results in disease control and prevention. Clinical Pharmacy also has the responsibility to educate the future with advanced health care and quality of life. Clinical Pharmacy has been considered as Pharmaceutical Care that was reported as the answerable source of pharmaceutical therapy for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes which improve patients’ quality of life. The birth of the pharmaceutical care concept can be described as a practical philosophy for pharmacy. The concept involves responsibilities, medication surveillance at individual and systems level, counselling, and evaluation of care resultants.

Prescription Medicine

 The pharmacists that perform the clinical role alongside physicians are called as Clinical Pharmacists. They will have direct interaction and good coordination with the physicians and other health professionals and to patients as well to ensure the prescribed medication of the respective patient to promote the best health conditions. The role of Clinical Pharmacists lies in different areas including the healthcare centres and its affiliated outpatient clinics, Emergency departments of the hospitals as Hospital Pharmacists, in place of Community Pharmacies as Community Pharmacists, at Physicians’ Offices, Community or group based clinics, all nursing homes as per requirement and certain managed care organizations which may come under Social-Service centres.

Clinical pharmacy is a major area of the Pharmacy field. All the upcoming pharmacists should be engaged in the improvement of the entire profession. Conversion of the vision into practice will take dedication and facilities. Although, if pharmacy practice is going to continue as the model of drug competence, helping to reach the peaks in health care, now everyone should begin to unite the intermediary of pharmacists to locate the unfilled requirements of our patients and society.
